Zombie Eyed - Single
Anticipation is building for the Feb. 16 release of the debut full-length from fiery rock trio The Dirty Nil (they've previously put out plenty of singles and EPs). Entitled Higher Power, it is the group's first recording for noted label Dine Alone. The band describe the record as "Finally the chance to assemble a dynamic and unified set of songs, this is us right here and now. A chance to stretch our legs and explore new pastures of distortion". The album was produced by the band, with Shehzaad Jiwani and Adam Bentley, engineered by Jordan Mitchell (City and Colour, Memoryhouse) and Josh Korody (Dilly Dally, Fucked Up) and mixed by John Goodmanson (Sleater Kinney, Unwound). A bracing taste of the album comes in the form of new single "Zombie Eyed" (yes, zombies are everywhere). It's a typically paintstripping piece of guitar noise that still retains a solid melodic core. Compulsive stuff. In reviewing another recent The Dirty Nil single, "No Weaknesses", NCM's John Crossingham noted that " What makes them great is the sheer ferocity and passion of their delivery". Amen.
The Dirty Nil close out 2015 with a Dec. 27 gig at Hamilton's Casbah. In January they head across the pond for a gig in London, followed by an eight-city German tour.
