The recently-released Your Mess is the follow-up to Melissa Lauren's much-praised second album, 2012's The Other Side, one that showed her development as a songwriter. Stylistically, both records showcase the various sides of Lauren, a jazz-pop chanteuse with eclectic tastes (from swing to blues and Latin). Your Mess is a collaboration with bassist Mark Cashion on the writing and production side, and the results have a playful feel. A breezy take on the Police hit "Every Little Thing She Does" has airplay potential, while the first single from the album, "Send Them Away", scored Song of the Week status on CBC's Here and Now. Of note: Lauren has shared the stage with greats ranging from Clark Terry and Ranee Lee to Jeff Healey and Gordon Lightfoot.
After launching the record at The Burdock in Toronto, Lauren had a successful five-date western tour in November.
